Also known as gun or needle hair. It is the longest and thickest fiber in rabbit hair. It is straight, hard, smooth and has no bending. It has a length of 10 to 17 cm and a fineness of 35 to 120 microns. It usually only accounts for 5% to 10% of the total hair. A few can reach more than 15%. The coarse wool has strong abrasion resistance and has the function of protecting the fluff and preventing the felt.

It means that there are two fiber types on a single wool fiber. The upper part of the fiber is straight and has no curl, the medulla is well developed and has coarse hair characteristics. The lower half of the fiber is finer and has irregular curl. It is composed of only a single row of myelocytes and has fine hair characteristics. It is less in the coat and generally only accounts for 1% to 5%. The two types of hair have a large difference in diameter due to the difference in thickness, which is easy to break and the value of wool spinning is low.
